Description:
"The Detour" follows a young woman's journey through Europe as she seeks self-discovery and meaning. Inspired by the real-life encounters between goatherd Joanna and Austrian author Thomas Bernhard, the film begins when Joanna is heartbroken after her boyfriend leaves her at a women's shelter in Rotterdam. Working in a library and attending the theater, she is deeply affected by a play by Bernhard, whose ideas begin to shape her perspective. Invited to the French Pyrenees by Camille, Joanna decides to make a detour to Austria to meet Bernhard, hoping that connection will lead her to understanding herself.
