Michael Shulan, a struggling novelist with a shop in NYC's Soho, had his life irrevocably altered by the World Trade Center attacks. He and three friends transformed his Spring Street space into "Here Is New York," a renowned crowdsourced photo exhibit. For five years, he became the world's foremost authority on 9/11 photography. Unexpectedly, this outsider was offered a pivotal role: Creative Director of the National 9/11 Museum at Ground Zero. The film chronicles his dream job and its subsequent unraveling. Shulan’s vision for an open and participatory museum, allowing Americans to connect with the personal stories of 9/11, faces constant challenges as he fights to maintain his creative leadership.
