Last Year (2010)

"Last Year" presents a rapid-fire montage of images, with hundreds of photographs flashing across the screen each minute, compressing a year's worth of moments into a single, intense viewing experience. Created using iPhoto software, the film compiles over two thousand photographs taken throughout 2009 from various computer sources into a unified database, arranged chronologically by the software. Part personal journal, part visual diary, the film documents Wong’s constant recording of everyday life: Chinese New Year celebrations in Vancouver, the Beijing Olympics, encounters with artists and at art exhibitions, architecture, friends and family, scenes from New York streets, parties, music concerts, film festivals, the Calgary Stampede, Pride Parade, and moments in Toronto.
