Description:
In a world marked by growing intolerance and inequality, what does it mean to create socialist theatre in India? *Natak Jari Hai* is a documentary about JANAM (The People’s Theatre Front), a small theatre group that has continued performing despite major political shifts and personal hardships. The film examines the motivations and beliefs of the JANAM actors and their vision for resistance and change as they present their "People's Theatre" across India. Through the voices of JANAM members and a thoughtful look at the group’s defining tragedy – the 1989 assassination of their leader Safdar Hashmi – the film illuminates the world of socialist theatre.
