Las Pelotas (2009)

In a small Argentinian town, the fathers of promising young soccer players, Chato and Lopez, are anxious as scouts from Buenos Aires arrive to watch them play. A contract with a major club in the capital could lead to opportunities in Europe and significant wealth. However, after the game, the scouts deliver disappointing news: neither boy possesses the necessary talent. One is intelligent, the other athletic – a combination they believe would be exceptional. Dejected, Chato and Lopez consider their options. Lopez proposes a radical solution based on genetics, suggesting they have a child together, as his mother-in-law does with her livestock. After overcoming initial hesitation with the support of their wives, they proceed with the plan, overseen by their mothers-in-law. Nine months later, they receive the news: a baby boy is on the way.
