This film follows the Fifth International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, presented by The Van Cliburn Foundation. Amateur pianists from around the globe – some self-taught, others classically trained, ages thirty-five to eighty – gather in Fort Worth, Texas, for a week of music, competition, and friendship. The film offers a personal glimpse into the lives of these diverse competitors as they juggle careers and families with their passion for music. Years of practice lead to high-stakes performances before a panel of professionals and an attentive audience during three challenging rounds of elimination.
