Broken Camera Reels 1 & 2 (2000)

This film is comprised of two reels of footage shot in a Bushwick loft around 1998 or 1999. The filmmaker explored the potential of a simple movie camera by intentionally disabling parts. In the first reel, the claw was removed; in the second, the shutter. The filmmaker also experimented with physically moving the camera and varying the f-stop settings. The process was spontaneous, involving casual activity like drinking beer while filming, with minimal editing.
