Dither: The D.I.Y. Sound isn't a typical punk rock documentary. It examines the philosophies of early punk figures like Ian Mackaye of Minor Threat, Fugazi, and Dischord Records, as well as the communities who embraced these ideas to forge their own D.I.Y. ethos. More than just about music, it explores the communities built around it – spaces of shared identity and camaraderie. The film also considers the challenge of sustaining a culture fundamentally opposed to contemporary economic and social structures.
