Wang Keqin: Reporter (2005)

Reporter Wang Keqin risked his life exposing corruption among officials. His articles revealed stock market corruption and local government brutality, leading to threats against him – a 500,000 yuan bounty on his head. This drew the attention of Premier Zhu Rongji, who arranged for his protection. The film follows Wang Keqin as he interviews people in Min County, Gansu Province. He had previously reported on officials oppressing the local population, which resulted in their prosecution and increased public awareness of legal rights, prompting challenges to local governance. Afterward, the farmers who had defended their rights continued to face retaliation from village officials, regularly contacting Wang Keqin to share their experiences.
