Detour followed by Jovan from Foula (2005)

We met Jovan on Foula, the remotest island in the Shetland Isles. He found us arriving late off the ferry, looking tired. He kindly offered to show us around the next day. A long shot from his car captures the island's scenery as he drives along the single road, pointing out the abandoned vehicles and rusting metal scattered across Foula. Later, on Papa Stour, with a view of Foula, we filmed what would become the film’s opening sequence.
