Hothouse (2009)

Set against the backdrop of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, this film tells the story of a woman's unwavering resolve amidst adversity. Ronit Balaban runs her family's plant nursery, exporting to Europe. She is resilient, capable, and determined. As the country disengages from the region, her husband, Yaakov, has long since withdrawn, a consequence of a disfiguring terror attack. Unable to cope with his injuries, he has become emotionally distant. This documentary follows Ronit as she fights to maintain her family, her marriage, and the success of her thriving hothouse.
