Description:
Following a difficult relationship, filmmaker Maja Borg examines Christianity and BDSM, two seemingly opposite practices. The film explores a possible shared healing power between religion and subculture as Borg confronts her own traumas through dark, theatrical imagery. Set against the backdrop of the European queer scene and Northern Europe's Christian history, she seeks to rediscover her core self. "Passion" portrays passion and suffering as interconnected, blending literary and cinematic traditions into a ceremonial whole. Despite its abstract elements, the film maintains a sense of human depth as Borg is challenged physically and emotionally. Ultimately, it suggests that this shared humanity may be the link between theology and BDSM on an emotional and perhaps even spiritual level.
