Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, two Australian surf towns that appear different, share a deep connection to a massive industry built around selling the surfing lifestyle. As their populations grow, resources dwindle, and housing becomes unaffordable, the future of these towns – and surfing itself – is uncertain. "Under the Sun," a 16mm documentary filmed in both locations, explores the origins of commercialism within surf culture.
