Manahatta (2021)

Mary Kathryn Nagle's new drama explores how historical injustices continue to resonate today. The play connects the past and present, revealing the devastating effects of commercial exploitation that led to the displacement of Native Americans and the destruction of their culture. Jane Snake, a securities trader, returns to Manahatta, the Lenape homeland her ancestors were forcibly removed from in the 1600s. At the same time, her family in Oklahoma fights to preserve their language, culture, and home from foreclosure. Jane's return to Manahatta powerfully asserts the enduring presence of the Lenape people.
