Description:
This project builds on early 20th-century ideas about visual rhythm and music. It aims to move beyond previous attempts, like those by Jean Mitry, and offers a new approach. The goal is to directly translate Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata into the verticality of film. Recognizing cinema's difficulty in capturing the fleeting nature of music, the work imagines the intensity of musical notes fixed on film. While potentially fitting within "lettrist cinema," it could also be considered "integrist cinema"—a complete score that eliminates the need for interpretation through performance. – Ana Isabel Aréjula, Madrid, 2002
