Description:

Jana and Tomáš's love story starts in Prague right after the First Republic is founded. Their sudden trip to Buda is a turning point, freeing Jana from a dull life with her mother and starting their destined marriage. They find a home in the Slovak countryside on Tomáš's father's estate, where Jana forms a close bond with him. But she's deeply affected by Tomáš's unexpected change. Their marriage struggles as the estate falls into disrepair. Attempts to build a life in Vienna, a shadow of its former self after the monarchy's end, fail. Help arrives from Jana's resourceful brother-in-law. Returning to prosperous Prague represents their last hope, but it changes everything for them all.
