Description:

Following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, a tsunami, nuclear meltdown, and widespread evacuations devastated Fukushima Prefecture. Now, the government is encouraging resettlement by employing local hunters to eliminate radiation-contaminated wild boars that inhabit the abandoned areas. This short film follows a solitary hunter through this isolated, altered landscape. He encounters residents still living near the reactor who offer their views on the ongoing aftermath. "The Toxic Pigs of Fukushima" is inspired by the photographs of co-producers Toru Hanai and Yuki Iwanami. The original score is composed and performed by acclaimed ambient artist Midori Takada.
