A Taiwanese chef travels to Vietnam and falls for the shredded papaya salad from a roadside stall. As he enjoys it, a delicious connection forms between him and the vendor. The beautiful vendor follows the chef to Taiwan and joins his family. However, the kitchen is a battleground, and when a traditional Taiwanese mother-in-law clashes with her Vietnamese daughter-in-law, the conflict is like a papaya salad versus a Taiwanese stir-fry – both beloved by the chef.
