For over two years, the unemployed Wu Fadada has struggled to find work, facing constant setbacks. His desperate attempts at petty crime – including a failed robbery attempt that ends with him trapped in a freezer and rescued by the police – are compounded by eviction from his home, forcing him to live in his car. His wife, unable to cope, leaves him after a heated argument. Driven by her departure, Fadada impulsively attempts a bank robbery disguised as Mickey Mouse. He arrives late to find two other robbers already inside; they escape with the loot, but Fadada is captured on security footage when his mask is knocked off. Escaping the bank, Fadada collides with Yu Letian, a recently laid-off executive. The impact sends Fadada's briefcase onto Letian, and Letian, attempting to return it, begins chasing Fadada, mistakenly believed to be part of a criminal gang. Reluctant to leave his son Ah-Chi without support, Fadada refuses to cooperate with the police despite his criminal record. Letian, meanwhile, is disheartened by a conversation with his family revealing his daughter’s resentment. The unlikely pair decide to flee, taking Ah-Chi with them. In the south, Letian is mistaken for a new employee at a night market steak stand. Forced into menial labor, he initially feels humiliated but eventually embraces the work and finds unexpected fulfillment. Fadada, under Letian's influence, begins to understand responsibility and his role as a father, finally focusing on finding honest work. After numerous attempts, he lands a job at a motorcycle shop owned by Wan Xiang, becoming a skilled mechanic. Working at the steak stand reshapes Letian’s values, diminishing his vanity and allowing him to rediscover life's simple joys. He also gains insight into the lives of young people, improving his connection with Ah-Chi. As days turn into weeks, the fugitive trio faces an uncertain future, questioning if they can ever truly start over.
