Manipulations (2004)

"Manipulations" is a video inspired by the Rubik's Cube puzzle. It features close-up shots of hands working a colored cube, accompanied by a steady, repetitive beat and the sound of the cube's clicks, sometimes mixed with harsh acoustic distortions. As the puzzle is solved, black cubes appear, gradually replacing the colored ones until the cube becomes entirely black except for a row with a white line. Throughout, the hands continue their movements, overlaid with images of the Kaaba, progressively covering the hands in black. This video is part of a larger project that began in 2004 and includes photographs, a sculpture, and a video game.
