Description:
Emma (Line Kruse) is an eleven-year-old only child growing up in a privileged Danish household. Her parents are often preoccupied with their own lives and neglect her. After overhearing her mother lamenting the tragedy of a child kidnapping, Emma decides to fake her own abduction. She encounters Malthe, a gentle, childlike sewer worker who unexpectedly finds her. Emma convinces Malthe she's a Russian princess fleeing Bolshevik pursuers, and he agrees to shelter her in his simple home. After a few days as a "kidnapped" princess, Emma plans to return home. However, she overhears servants discussing her parents’ lack of concern about her disappearance...
