Alone examines the emotional toll of the conflict in Ukraine through the story of Andriy Khluvniuk, the lead singer of the popular hip-hop rock band Boombox. Millions of young fans admire Andriy for his music and image, unaware of his internal struggles caused by the political unrest and military aggression in his country. Andriy aims to inspire his fans to oppose the war in eastern Ukraine and advocate for the release of Ukrainian filmmaker and political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, held in Russia. As international attention fades from the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Andriy uses his fame to bring the world's focus back to Ukraine’s fight for independence. The film ends with a remarkable series of events leading to Oleg Sentsov's release in a prisoner exchange, allowing Andriy and Oleg to finally meet.
