Description:
In his show "Messiah," Derren Brown journeys to the U.S. to deceive five prominent individuals, each an authority in their field: Christian evangelism, alien abduction, psychic phenomena, New Age spirituality, and communicating with the deceased. Under assumed identities, Brown convinces all five that he possesses genuine powers, with four publicly affirming his abilities. The program explores how suggestion influences belief and our tendency to accept ideas without critical examination. Brown concludes that people often favor information confirming their existing beliefs while dismissing contradictory evidence, a psychological phenomenon known as confirmation bias.
