Description:
Maria embodies the experience of many women from Moldova. She endured a life with an abusive husband who believed physical and psychological abuse was normal, expecting her to silently suffer. After losing a child, she left to work in Italy, striving to provide for her family. Life abroad brought further hardship, but she persevered through difficult conditions, sending money home to her husband and daughter, hoping for a future reunion. After eight years of working illegally, Maria returns to Moldova only to discover her husband has another family, the house he invested in is gone, and the money she sent him has been spent. He has nothing left.
