Still Loaf with Guitar (2003)

The film aims to present a visual still life where only the paint is in motion. I created around fifty paintings using the same composition – a loaf of bread and a small guitar – varying only the colors and paint textures. The subject matter is a subtle nod to the frequent depiction of bread in 19th-century still life paintings. This project, along with "Spin Cycle," is part of my series of films focused on bread. It was part of a two-person show at a Brooklyn gallery with a painter who exclusively paints butter. Our exhibition was titled "Bread and Butter Works."
