Sentinela (2007)

In Brazil, a traditional vigil guides the dying as they transition to the afterlife, assisting them with the final step when they are too weak. This vigil manifests in many ways: a chorus of prayers, loved ones praying at the bedside, a sacred book of rites, slow processions through cemeteries, ritual objects, amulets on an altar, and the flickering flame of a candle. Most importantly, it embodies an unseen spiritual force – a presence that lingers over faces, seeking to be captured by the camera.
