Description:
"Hometown Hero: The Richard Clune Story" is a sports documentary following hockey player Richard Clune's battle with addiction throughout his NHL career. The film begins in Toronto, exploring Clune's Canadian upbringing and his time with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he developed a severe addiction to drugs and alcohol. After debuting in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Clune made the difficult decision to get sober, undertaking a challenging journey to rehab from his brother's home in Massachusetts. Now sober for over a decade, the documentary reveals Clune's life off the ice and his work as a mentor to young NHL players, as he nears the end of his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
