When Varthur McArthur, artistic director of a struggling theater in Duluth, gathers his discontented cast and crew for a first reading of an "immersive murder mystery dinner party," he becomes the victim. Detective Justine Case arrives to investigate. Isolating the guests in separate rooms, she begins to unravel a web of hidden affairs, old resentments, theatrical conflicts, and plenty of musical numbers. As Case sorts through lies and misleading clues from a strange murder mystery script left by the victim, she is determined to discover the truth and prove herself as a skilled detective.
