Refund My Loan (1999)

The play follows a young Egyptian man from a modest family, who spent his childhood as a bodyguard for an oriental dancer named Habiba, and later worked protecting the American embassy. His goal is to gather 30,000 pounds for a marriage dowry to give to Shawkat, a wealthy businessman, in order to marry his college colleague Basant. He had been saving the money for his father, but upon collecting the full amount, his father refuses to release it. Forced to borrow from a bank run by Tawfiq, Shawkat's friend, he discovers he signed an agreement to repay 25,000 pounds. Unable to meet this debt, he resorts to kidnapping his infant son.
