Description:

Eva Nygaard travels from Denmark to Greenland to surprise her fiancé, Doctor Erik Halsøe, only to discover he's leaving her for his nurse. Heartbroken, Eva waits in a small fishing village for passage back to Denmark. There, she develops a complicated and often difficult relationship with Jens, a reserved Dane who runs a trading company outpost. At the same time, Jens tries to convince a local Greenlander named Pavia to work as a fisherman, even as Pavia worries about the impact on his community and their beliefs.
