Richart (2001)

This documentary explores the world of Richard "Richart" Tracy, a 50-year-old collagist and artist known for transforming his front yard into intricate black and white mazes. While in a psychiatric ward at age 50, Tracy reportedly told staff that creating art like this was a fast track to discharge. Now, seventeen years later, he has expanded his yard art across three lots, creating a vast landscape of his visions. The film offers an intimate look at his artwork, his creative process, and the mind behind it – culminating in a surprising discovery in his basement.
