Kadavu (1991)

Abandoned by his mother, teenager Raju is taken in by Beeranikka, a Muslim ferryman, and begins working with him. He meets a young woman on a ferry who is returning to Kozhikode after her mother's death. She invites Raju to stay with her father and uncle there. Raju declines, wanting to continue his work. Later, he finds an ornament he believes belongs to the girl and travels to Kozhikode to return it, after a long search. He finds the girl, but she doesn’t recognize him and says the ornament isn't hers. Discouraged, Raju returns to the ferry.
