Description:
A folk song resonates across the Shandong Plain – the song of Luo Xiaojia, a young woman from Yunnan's Yi ethnic group. At 17, she was trafficked to Shandong and has lived in rural China for seven years. There, she was forced into marriage with a farmer and officially married. The film follows her life in this unfamiliar countryside, exploring her feelings for her homeland and her perspective on fate. In her tenth year, Luo Xiaojia finally gains permission to return home. After a 4,000-kilometer journey, she reunites with her mother in Yunnan, whom she has longed for. However, she finds herself torn. Ultimately, she asks her mother to sing many folk songs for her before returning to Shandong, carrying those poignant melodies with her.
