Description:
"Never My Soul" centers on a transsexual woman who impersonates Turkan Soray, a legendary figure in Turkish cinema. Her life mirrors the melodramatic stories of Soray's films. Born male, she endured a childhood of abuse from her military father for perceived effeminate traits. At thirteen, she was sent to psychiatrists to correct her sexuality and later suffered further abuse at the hands of an Istanbul police chief. Now living in Lausanne, she is on dialysis due to kidney failure and survives through prostitution.
