Flight (2000)

Jewish painter Leopold Mayer escaped Nazi Germany, briefly finding refuge in France where he adopted the name Leo Maillet. However, Germany's invasion of Paris ended his time there. *Flucht* follows Maillet's escape from both the Gestapo and French police, using his "Entre chien et loup" (Twilight) series of paintings as a guide. Filmmaker Peter Nestler accompanies Maillet's son Daniel to revisit the artist's hiding places, creating a poignant portrait of a remarkable artist in hiding.
