Description:
This festive comedy centers around a popular song missing a verse – the last one, which ends with "...there were 39 sailors and one girl, and that's why the censors deleted the last verse." In 1965, it was groundbreaking for a woman to join the merchant navy. Peer Guldbrandsen and Annelise Reenberg, inspired by Else Boyes' novel, wrote the screenplay to reflect this change. The film follows radio operator Else as she joins the M/S Warrigal, owned by Wilhelmine Jacobsen, on a voyage from Brønshøj to Bangkok and back. Her presence disrupts the traditional routines of the all-male ship, turning the journey into a lively celebration.
