Bubu, a poet repeatedly committed to psychiatric institutions – twelve times – confronts the injustice of these institutions that effectively sentence the mentally ill to life. The poem "The House of the Dead," written during the filming of a documentary, exposes the overlooked deaths within these legal asylums. Through three stories across three acts, the film explores the tragedies of Jaime, Antonio, and Almerindo: anonymous men deemed threats to society, whose punishment is suicide, endless institutionalization, or enduring life imprisonment. Bubu narrates his own life and his anticipated fate – death within the asylum.
