Description:
"The Long Count III (Thrilla in Manila)" is the third film in a series focusing on Muhammad Ali's three most famous fights from 1964 to 1975. This film depicts the final rounds of his last match against Joe Frazier, fought in Manila on October 1, 1975, which Ali won. The title reflects Ali's own promotional slogan. Director Pfeiffer obscures the boxers by digitally blending background imagery with them, leaving only blurred outlines and a ghostly presence. The ring ropes occasionally shift as if someone is leaning against them. The film's soundtrack consists solely of sounds from interviews with the fighters involved in the three bouts – fragmented stammering and breathing, with all dialogue removed.
