#WhoCanBeHappyAndFreeInRussia? (2015)

During the summer of 2014, a team of actors from Moscow's Gogol Center and Yaroslavl's Fedor Volkov State Academic Drama Theater, led by Kirill Serebrennikov, traveled to the Yaroslavl region. Their mission: to develop a play inspired by N.A. Nekrasov's poem "Who is to live well in Russia." The theater company immersed themselves in local life, studying the poem alongside residents of villages and towns. They recorded documentary monologues, asking people the central question of the poem – and of contemporary Russia: "Who should live well in Russia?" – and the entire research process was captured by Alexander Gorchilin of "The Seventh Studio" and Ksenia Sereda.
