Mother’s Gut (2020)

Set in Yorkshire, UK, the film follows a young girl who accidentally ingests herself and journeys through her own digestive system. Inside, she encounters a variety of bacteria – some frightened, others indifferent, and some hostile. The story explores anxieties about invasion, both personal and national. It’s a child's imaginative vision of her mother's experience moving to a foreign land, rendered surreal with classic special effects and an experimental science fiction score.
