In 1976, four friends in Athens create the band "The 4 Levels of Existence." They write, practice in makeshift studios, and record their first and only album, believing they're sparking a musical change. Over time, that change fades as they settle into adult life. However, their album takes an unexpected path: starting with a few stores in Athens, it gains a worldwide following, even reaching music producers in the US. In 2009, representatives from Kanye West and Jay-Z's record label contact Athanasios Alatas, the band's composer, seeking permission to use a piece of music from the "4 Levels of Existence" album.
