Josef Váchal, a unique artist, typographer, and writer, is best known for his vibrant "Blood Novel," a surreal celebration of 19th-century pulp stories. This work captured the attention of Jaroslav Brabec and his team, who saw a parallel between the novel and 20th-century "trash." Their project explores the history of cinema, from silent films to modern auteur cinema and horror, using techniques like tinted film. The film blends a colorful story with the narrative of Váchal himself, who both writes and comments on his own book. The plot also features characters representing Fragonard and the Master. As with Váchal's writing, reality blurs with fiction, suggesting that the only truly satisfying conclusion is the completion of the artist's work.
