Description:
For nearly two decades, Mars Bar on the corner of First Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan has been my regular haunt. It was our place for drinks – beer and tequila – after work at Anthology Film Archives, and a popular spot for moviegoers after screenings. We always enjoyed ourselves at Mars Bar. It was consistently open, featured a jukebox, and often lacked electricity, embracing its aged, cluttered state as a downtown New York escape. This is my tribute to Mars Bar, as I knew it.
