Description:
Equatorial Guinea has been under the oppressive rule of dictator Teodoro Obiang since 1979. Juan Tomás Ávila Laurel, the country's most translated writer, was forced to leave his homeland in 2011 after a hunger strike protesting the dictatorship's abuses. Now living in Spain, he believes he must return to confront the regime, using his writing as a weapon.
