Description:
Jochen lives with his divorced mother and her boyfriend in a strained family dynamic, which she observes with helplessness. Frustrated, Jochen steals a chocolate bar. An older classmate, Alex, witnesses this and manipulates him into stealing for Alex. Jochen is eventually caught and sent to a reform school. A group of students from Bonn filmed Hans-Georg Noack's popular book for young people, "Escalator Down." This marks their successful debut, powerfully illustrating how a 13-year-old boy begins a path of theft that leads to a downward spiral. Impressed by the students' script, Noack granted them exclusive filming rights, resulting in a remarkable film highly recommended for this reason.
