Beneath the Olive Tree (2015)

This film is based on a collection of notebooks detailing the experiences of women deported to Greek concentration camps during the Greek Civil War of 1946-49. The notebooks, discovered years later under an olive tree, are essentially diary entries by many of the women, some of whom were active in the resistance during the Nazi occupation. Actress Olympia Dukakis, who narrates the film, first brought these unique documents to the attention of director Toska.
