Description:
When nine-year-old Wiren meets American Dr. Young, a world of possibilities unfolds for the young deaf boy. Determined to improve his life, he leaves his rural home in Nickerie for the Kennedy boarding school in Paramaribo. He faces challenges adapting to the school's strict Catholic traditions, but ultimately becomes the force behind introducing sign language. After being denied access to university, Wiren recognizes the unequal rights and opportunities available to deaf people in Suriname. Witnessing the ongoing marginalization of the deaf community, he pursues legal action against the government, aiming to compel them to uphold the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Will he achieve justice?
