Kohaku (2017)

Sergeant Yoneda (Nishida Toshiyuki), a low-key police officer, stumbles upon an article about a cafe called Kohaku in a booklet at his usual cafe. He unexpectedly takes leave and travels to Kohaku in Uozu, Toyama Prefecture by bullet train, bringing with him documents related to a 25-year-old unsolved arson and murder case from Kichijoji. The cafe's owner, Arai Toshio (Terao Akira), possesses a melancholic air. As Yoneda spends time with Arai and his regular customer, Hirai Sachiko (Suzuki Kyoka), a married woman working at the local fisheries cooperative, their connection deepens, revealing a shared sense of darkness. What will become of them?
