While some new footage from The Beatles' touring years appeared in "The Beatles Eight Days a Week," more from their 1964 Melbourne concert would have been welcome. The Australian scenes were even more energetic than those in the US. Upon arriving in Adelaide, approximately half the city's population lined the motorcade route to the Beatles' hotel. This performance is considered one of the best filmed Beatles concerts. The sound is excellent, with no overdubs, unlike the Shea Stadium concert. Standout songs include "You Can’t Do That" and "Long Tall Sally." A memorable moment occurs at the end of "Long Tall Sally" when a man resembling John Lennon gets on stage and shakes his hand during the song. Hopefully, a future official DVD release of The Beatles' full concert performances will include this show.
