Description:
In a world with limited opportunities, two women are both in love with the same man. In Budapest, Liliom is a charismatic carousel barker, admired by the seasoned owner of the ride and a naive young maid, Julie. After spending time with Liliom, Julie loses her job, and he is fired by his employer for the same reason. The couple moves in with Julie's aunt. Facing unemployment, Liliom feels diminished and is drawn into a life of crime by a shady local character. Julie remains devoted to Liliom, even when he is difficult. Meanwhile, a dependable widower, a carpenter, seeks to marry Julie. Can Julie and Liliom's passionate love find a future together?
